In 1997, Toshi appeared in a TV show with with Yuki Saori. They displayed this picture among others of both artists, showing their lives across the years. During the show, a caption appears saying this is Toshi at 17, which would place the picture between 1982.10.10 (Toshi's 17th birthday) and 1983.10.10 (Toshi's 18th birthday).
This photo is ridiculously similar to this other one, maybe they even are from same day. Read the comments there and you'll see the problem. If we believe this is Toshi at 17, we would have to believe this is 1982, which would make this X, where Toshi was a vocalist. Remember that X was created between June and September 1982, and Toshi became 17 after that, in October. Toshi being a guitarist at 17 is impossible.
My guess is that media was lazy and didn't do their homework, which isn't too weird. Another possibility is that they could had been using the east asian age reckoning system, which adds a year to his actual western age. This image is most likely from 1981 or before, definitely not from later.

The 1982 date here is most surely wrong. The text blocks only talk about later X years, and offer no help. The big kanji reads "born", but this is not not the birth of X: Toshi never played the guitar in X, and Terry is not in this picture (he was in X since its creation). We see Yoshiki, Toshi, and an unknown bassist and guitarist.
This magazine scan reveals this is a Bunka Matsuri from high school. It also offers a textual quote made in the concert, likely by Toshi: 「音楽でメシを食えるようになりたい」, which isn't heard in the 1982-1983 Bunka Matsuri aduios we have.
These cultural festivals traditionally take place in autumn, which is September-November in Japan. Yoshiki and Toshi assisted to high school from 1981.04 to 1984.03, X was created in summer 1982, which is June-September in Japan, and participated in the 1982 and 1983 Awa High School cultural festivals.
So what is this photo? Before X we had NOISE (1980-1982), Toshi did play the guitar in NOISE, unlike in X. Autumn 1981 seems a good time for this photo and coincides: It's a bunka matsuri from high school where Toshi played the guitar. I believe this picture to be NOISE in 1981 Bunka Matsuri (September-November), during 1st grade of high school.

Amazingly enough this picture was found in a girl's MySpace. The date is 1985.02.25, you can barely see it at the bottom of the picture. It seems Toshi still has black hair, or his orange dye looks really dark in here. The place is Kagurazaka Explosion (concert setlist unknown). From left to right you can see: Tomo, Yoshiki, Toshi, Terry.

The interesting thing is that it announces the EP sale for 1985.05.15, but later ads would announce the sale for 1985.06, implying that the release date was postponed.

Though the date of this concert is uncertain, I would place it as 1985.06 for two reasons:
1) This concert has Atsushi, Terry & Eddie in it (check next picture). June is the last month with this configuration, cause in this same month Eddie replaces Tomo.
2) Toshi's hair around 1985.04/05 had his orange dye fading away, black roots visible. In this photo Toshi's hair looks way more yellow than before, no black roots visible. Seems he had a recent hair dye, and also has a new more afro-like hairstyle, similar to the 1985 concert Flyers.
Just put 1 and 2 together, and I think it's safe to assume that this belongs to 1985.06 right before Eddie replaced Tomo.

Sometimes X just consisted of Yoshiki and Toshi and other guy.
Here we see Taiji, Toshi and Yoshiki in 1987 after Kerry/Satoru left them. This is the official team that appeared in the Skull Trash Zone Volume I album.
