XRD   What is XRD?

Welcome to X Radical Dreamers Network. This site is many things, but mainly it's a place to share tastes, concerns, ideas, and dreams. It's also the reminiscene of a project started by three teenagers quite some years ago. It's also a hobby for a young couple, two simple people who run most of the site behind the scenes. Actually, it's a space to get along with friends, write, share music and games, and laugh a lot.

Originally the name of the project was Radical Dreamers, in reference to the homonimous Satellaview (SNES) videogame, Radical Dreamers (sequel to Chrono Trigger, a legendary RPG game). Because of web registry issues, the X was added in honor to the legendary rock band, X JAPAN. Although the name ended up being a little long, it's really meaningful, because the biggest part of XRD Network is dedicated to X JAPAN.

The name Radical Dreamers belongs to a band of thieves which appears in both sequels of Trigger. But the interesting thing is its implied meaning in Chrono Cross. The story tells how in ancient times life started in the sea, and the little unicellular organisms that gradually grew up, eventualy were radical enough to get out of the water. It was thanks to those dreamers that the star (or our Earth, or the universe) is as we know it, and evolves. The same idea is presented in Xenosaga: "a single thought can change the universe". I believe it's a historical, sociological, and cultural truth, that we are the product of grand dreamers.

Plato, who was a mystic by excellence, in The Republic tries to talk about human soul, but seeing it's a really complicated topic, in order to do it he talks about the state. It's as if the letters in the soul are too small to read, but the same words are written in giant letters on the state. In order to talk about the microcosmos, he talks about the macrocosmos. A zen poem says: "the microcosmos is inside the macrocosmos". The ocean is in the star. The star is in the ocean. It's the same as saying that radical dreamers born in the ocean, give birth to the stars, or according to Chrono Cross' philosophy, they impregnate the stars like cosmic spermatoza. The very own meaning of a "Chrono Trigger" is that one's own will and dreams trigger changes in reality, when swung towards time. By the star's dream, cleansed of darkness, a future is born.

It is inside dreams that reality exists, it is inside ourselves that the universe exists; with this spirit we opened the XRD Network's doors in 2003, and today we make our image and contect reflect this idea. We started small, and have become bigger dream by dream, opening new sections and horizons. An unexpected number of visitors led us to make our site in english, as well as spanish, such as our discussion boards, which allow messages in both languages, even the casual japanese posts. We wish to continue building the oniric temple that our visitors expect.

In 2010 we started making bigger plans for XRD, wishing to become a diffusion channel that can satisfy the needs of various markets. Currently we're working on making XRD a company dedicated to promote music around the globe. We hope to see you around under the unique brand of XRD.
